Sinopsis
In the hospital room where her mother is being treated, Amparo, an intelligent woman with an indomitable spirit, faces the imminent prospect of saying goodbye. At a turning point in her own life, marked by the possibility of becoming a mother, she feels the need to look back and reflect on the complex relationship she has had with the woman who gave her life.
Through memories, confessions and episodes as surprising as they are revealing, Amparo reconstructs a shared history that defies any conventional model: an unusual relationship that challenges conventions and brings into play affections, boundaries, expectations and wounds from the past.
Through sharp dialogue, awkward humour and a tenderness that peeks through the cracks, the play explores what it means to be mother and daughter beyond the biological. Between memory and invention, between what was and what might have been, Piedra Libre confronts us with an essential question: if family is not always given to us, can we choose it?
